Rocks at Clogher Bay 1

This is the first of a series of photographs of rocks at Clogher Bay in the Dingle Peninsula on the West Coast of Ireland, and they belong to the Dunquin Group from the Silurian Period.

  1. Hello, Jo. I believe these siltstones and sandstones are fossiliferous but I didn’t manage to find any fossils – except Chondrites trace fossils.

  2. I thought it was yet another spectacular beach and had intended to return the next day for more photographs of the geology – but got diverted because there is so much to see in Dingle.
